MICRONEEDLING
What is Microneedling?

Micro-needling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy. The treatment involves using very small, ultra-fine needles to create microscopic wounds in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural wound healing response, stimulating the skin cells to produce collagen, elastin and other growth factors to improve the thickness and elasticity, texture, tone and overall appearance of the skin.

What skin conditions/issues does Microneedling treat?

Microneedling improves skin firmness, radiance, skin texture and tone. It is a highly effective treatment for enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, acne scarring, surgical scars and stretch marks, and results improve over time as new collagen develops. Microneedling is suitable for the face, neck, décolletage, hands and body.

Why 'SkinPen Precision' Microneedling?

The SkinPen Precision micro-needling pen is a clinically proven, award-winning, FDA approved and medically CE certified micro-needling device that uses an advanced micro-needle cartridge and disposable bio-sheath to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination. Each cartridge contains 14 of the highest quality, Japanese stainless-steel needles that are highly durable to ensure exceptionally precise, safe and effective treatments. The efficacy of the SkinPen Precision means that incredible results can be achieved with lower settings reducing the potential for adverse reactions caused by excessive post-procedure inflammation.

What happens during a Microneedling treatment?

Following a consultation where we will discuss the procedure in detail together with your treatment aims, an anaesthetic cream will be applied. The skin is then cleansed and a thin layer of gel is applied to allow the SkinPen to glide over the skin to prevent abrasion and friction. The needle depth is selected and treatment begins with a test pass to determine skin reaction and tolerance levels. The SkinPen is then moved across the skin, area by area, in vertical and horizontal movements to ensure every area is treated thoroughly. Treatment time is approximately 60 minutes.

Is Microneedling painful?

The procedure is usually well-tolerated as numbing cream is applied 30 minutes before the procedure.

What results will I see?

Your skin will look luminous after the initial healing has taken place. However, full results are noticed at between 4-6 weeks as the skin renews. The skin firming effects caused by tissue remodelling and new collagen formation have been proven to continue up to a year post-treatment.

How many Microneedling sessions are required for great results?

You will see an improvement in skin quality, texture and tone after just one treatment. However, for deeper lines, scarring, stretch-marks and pigmentation a course of 3-6 treatments will be recommended, one every 4-6 weeks.

What is the recovery time following Microneedling?

-
Make-up and skincare products should not be applied for 24-hours.
-
For the first few days after treatment your skin is likely to feel red, hot, stingy and tight, like sunburn. You may have some mild bruising and may also experience some swelling, particularly around the eye area.
-
The skin may flake or peel post-treatment. This is part of the skin rejuvenation process. Depending on the condition of the skin prior to treatment, this may be quite noticeable and last for around a week. It is important not to pick or peel the skin as this may cause scarring or pigmentation.
-
Pigmentation may darken post-treatment before showing improvement.
-
You may wish to schedule your treatment to coincide with a day or two away from work and social events. You will be given detailed aftercare advice following the procedure. It is important to follow the aftercare advice carefully to aid the wound healing process and to prevent any excessive inflammation post-procedure.
-
You will be given a complimentary tube of Skinfuse RESCUE Calming Complex to take home with you to be used from the day after the procedure. Containing Oatmeal, Vitamin B3, Aloe Vera, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper and Hyaluronic Acid, this soothing cream reduces inflammation and redness and promotes skin cell rejuvenation and healing. You will also be given the rest of the Skinfuse Lift HG gel, used during the treatment, which you can reapply the day of the procedure to cool, soothe and hydrate the skin.
